The Tahoe Tribe blog series features a group of women that are dedicated to supporting success in each other’s personal and professional lives. Each and every woman is remarkable in their own way, offering unique—and absolutely invaluable— contributions to each other and to the WWA movement as a whole.

As a unit and as individuals, these ladies both redefine and exemplify the true meanings of support, love, sisterhood, and friendship. In short, Walking With America simply would not be possible without them!

As “The Organizer,” Kelley certainly has plenty of opportunities to help keep WWA running smoothly! Whether its maintaining crew documents, mapping miles, tracking dates for press release stops, or keeping track of expenses and donation values, Kelley is there with patience, an analytical mindset, and a keen eye for detail.

For Kelley, living a healthy and happy lifestyle and being a part of the Tahoe Tribe has brought powerful lessons in how to spark personal growth. As she says, “If you want a positive life, hang out with positive people who inspire you!”

What does Walking With America mean to you?

When I saw Sheryl’s passion to get the word out to encourage people just to get outside and walk, it reminded me of my own love of walking in nature.  I wanted to be part of something simple and healthy for all.

How did you & Sheryl meet?

I met Sheryl through a Green Apron MeetUp group a few years ago.  One night, we decided to do a potluck and play games.  One of the highlights was playing the game ‘Taboo’.  If you’re not familiar with the game, the intention is to give clues your team to figure out the word on each card.  The trick is to NOT say 5 of the top clues on each card, all within a short amount of time.

It truly got the whole group laughing and opened the door to connecting with the group further!

How do you stay happy & healthy each day?

We all have an inner voice— I just try to make sure I listen to the empowering one!  I’m a glass-half-full kind of girl and look at the world from a curiosity point of view and try to see other perspectives.  This allows me to connect with others in a way that brings the conversation up.

Spiritually, I connect with God/Source, my Guides, Angels, and nature realms for their assistance with divine guidance, questions, grounding, and support.  When I can, I love to take my dog for a walk in the forest and connect with Mother Nature.

At the end of the day, I try to tap into self-care by taking a nice warm sea salt bath with essential oils.  This prepares me for a great night’s sleep so I can be prepared for a healthy next day.

Any tips for those who are curious about living happier, healthier lives?

Just getting outside to walk will get the blood pumping along with some fresh air. This will purge toxins for a healthier you!  All it takes is a small step to get outside the door.

Walk a little bit and then some more until you’re hooked.  Perhaps getting outside will encourage others to join in as well—and you might even experience a more positive outlook on life!
